What we do

The whole pool, from the hole in the ground to the weekly clean

Most companies do one part of this. We build them, we fix them, and we keep them running afterwards, which means nobody gets to blame anybody else when something goes wrong.

New pool construction

Built from excavation to first fill, in whatever shape and size the garden actually allows.

Custom designs

Freeform, geometric, infinity edge or a lap pool down the side of the house. Designed to the site rather than a catalogue.

Renovations & Marbelite

A tired pool re-surfaced and brought back. Marbelite is what turns a thirty year old shell into something you want to swim in.

Fibreglass installation

Fibreglass lining installed properly, sealed and finished, for a surface that holds water and stays smooth.

Leak detection & repairs

A pool that drops water overnight is losing it somewhere. We find where before anyone starts breaking up paving.

Heating

Solar panels and heat pumps, so the pool is usable in September instead of only in January.

Water features

Weirs, spouts, sheer descents and rock features, plumbed in as part of the pool rather than bolted on afterwards.

Pumps & motors

Repairs, replacements and new installations. A pool with a dead pump is a pond within a week.

Weekly maintenance

A pool that stays clean is a lot cheaper than one that goes green

Most of the expensive work we do started as a small thing nobody dealt with. A weekly service keeps the water balanced, the filter clear and the pump alive, and it means somebody who knows pools looks at yours every week instead of once it is already a problem.

  • Water tested and chemically balanced
  • Skimmed, brushed, vacuumed, baskets emptied
  • Filter backwashed and pump checked
  • Problems flagged early, while they are still small

Holiday homes and rentals

If you have a property you are not living in, a green pool is discovered by a guest rather than by you. We service it, we tell you what we found, and you never have to be there.

Send the address and a photo of the pool and we will quote it.

Who we are

“I started the business with no capital.” Madodana Vodloza, founder, speaking to Scrolla.Africa in February 2026

MVS Global Pools started in 2014 with no money and no experience. Madodana Vodloza was working in a restaurant when he came across pool work on Facebook, asked the people already doing it for a job, and learned it by watching and doing.

Twelve years later the company employs eleven people and travels across South Africa for work. That matters to you for a practical reason rather than a sentimental one: a team that size can put enough people on a build to finish it, and a business that has lasted twelve years is still going to be there when your pool needs something in year three.

Before & after

Drag the slider to see the difference

The same pools, before we started and after we finished.

Before: a stripped, unfinished pool shell After: the same pool resurfaced in blue Marbelite Before After

Marbelite resurface

A tired, dated shell stripped back and re-plastered from scratch, edge tiling replaced.

Before: pool being filled with water for the first time After: the finished pool, clean and clear Before After

New build, first fill to handover

From the first fill to a balanced, netted pool ready to swim in.

Before: a drained institutional pool from above, stripped back to bare surface After: the same pool from above, filled and finished in blue Before After

School pool resurface

Drained and stripped back, then resurfaced and refilled ahead of the swimming season.

Before: team applying blue Marbelite to a freeform pool After: the finished freeform pool on its red-brick patio Before After

Freeform pool resurface

Applied by hand, finished in a true blue.

How it works

How a pool project actually runs

Step one

We come and look

Nobody can quote a pool honestly off a photo. We come to the site, look at access, levels and where the plant will go.

Step two

Design and quote

You get a design that suits the space and a price against it, before anything is dug or broken.

Step three

We build it

Excavation, shell, surface, plumbing and plant. Our own team, not a chain of subcontractors you have never met.

Step four

Handover, then upkeep

We fill it, balance it and show you how it runs. If you would rather not think about it again, we service it weekly.

Where we work

Johannesburg first, the rest of the country when the job calls for it

We are based in Greenstone and most of our work is around Johannesburg and the East Rand. We do travel nationally for larger builds, so if you are further out it is worth asking rather than assuming.

Questions

Before you phone

What does a new pool cost?

It depends on size, shape, access to the site and what finish you want, so there is no price list on this page. We come out, look at the site and quote it properly. A number given over the phone before anyone has seen your garden is a number that changes later.

My pool is old. Renovate or replace?

Usually renovate. A sound shell with a tired surface is a Marbelite or fibreglass job, not a demolition. We will tell you honestly which one yours is, and if the shell is genuinely finished we will say that too.

What is Marbelite?

A cement and marble-aggregate plaster applied to the inside of the pool. It is the standard interior finish on South African concrete pools, and re-surfacing with it is what makes an old pool look and feel new without rebuilding it.

My pool loses water. Is that a leak?

Not always. Evaporation in a Highveld summer is real and can look alarming. A genuine leak shows a consistent drop that does not track the weather. We can test for it rather than guess.

Solar or a heat pump?

They suit different situations. Solar has no running cost but depends on roof space and sunshine; a heat pump works regardless of weather but uses electricity. Which is right depends on your roof, your pool size and how far into winter you want to swim. We install both, so we have no reason to push one.

Do you work outside Johannesburg?

Yes. We are Greenstone-based and we travel across South Africa for work. For anything far from Johannesburg, phone with the details and we will tell you straight whether it makes sense.
